I wrote a book!

I’m really excited to finally talk about my first new book in more than five years. You probably won’t be surprised to hear that it’s about cross-compiling CoffeeScript-based Backbone-organized NodeJS apps using LLVM into native iOS and Android applications, a girl and her friend. And a troublesome gnome. Plus, a fairy that’s really upset with the aforementioned gnome. That’s right! I’ve written a children’s fantasy book!

In fact, I’ve written three. The first three books in a new series called 11 Quests which will ultimately follow the paths of 11 eleven-year-olds who have no idea that their stories are connected.

Chasing the Gnome

The first book is called Chasing the Gnome, and it’s available now at Amazon, Apple’s iBookstore, Barnes & Noble online and Leanpub. Leanpub is a good option for geeks because they give you DRM-free, PDF, EPUB and MOBI files and you’ll get any updates I might make to the book.

My 8-year-old daughter read the book as I wrote it, and the instant feedback was great. This is a fantasy adventure story, but it’s for children so the peril is pretty mild and there’s no bloodshed. I was angling for some of the feel of epic fantasy, but without the stuff that generally pushes epic fantasy to older kids. I’ve gotten good reviews from the other children who have read it so far.
