SharedBrain

SharedBrain is a backlinking, wikilinking pre-processor for Hugo

Some time ago, I decided that I wanted KevinDangoor.com to be part-blog and part-wiki. I wanted it to be a place where I could keep up-to-date notes on topics, and also keep track of other random things I found interesting.

In late 2019 (I think), I discovered Roam, which I still think is an amazing note-taking, thought-organizing tool. But I wanted its backlinking and daily notes style of operation on my own site. I finally got around to it.

sharedbrain is not a great piece of code. I wanted to spend a relatively minimal time creating something that would give me the wikilinks and backlinking that I wanted. So, I just created a program to pre-process my Markdown files so that I could continue using Hugo to generate the site. sharedbrain is that program.

    • Yesterday, I published the first version of SharedBrain, which I use to take the Markdown files I edit and make them suitable for Hugo. Today, I pushed the first bugfix release to make the output more stable (see issues 1 and 2). I really hope to not have to do much with this code.
